Doesn't sound like it's time just yet. But It's an individual decision, different for everyone. You can call a hospice practice and interview them, they can make an assessment and advise you. The doctor can recommend one, or if you have one in mind, just call them. You don't have to sign up right away.

This may sound harsh but, based on MY experience, when you are ready to let her go. Please refer to an earlier thread on here regarding hospice care - "Did Hospice Rush Your Loved Ones Death?".

There are also options to think about like DNR or POLST (physician's orders for life sustaining treatment, if doc would not be surprised if the pt died in the next year). There are a lot of end of life issues to consider for an advance directive. I just finished reading the new book Being Mortal by Dr. Atul Gawande and he discusses how docs tend to over estimate the time left and minimize the quality of life issues. It's an eye opener. You can borrow it from the library since it is such a best seller!

I would take to doctor and have checked out. My mom was just not herself over 2 days, doctor suggested that we just take her to ER because doc thought maybe an infection, UTI, etc. turned out to be a brain bleed and at that point hospice was called. God bless
