After 8 yrs living with dad in his house, tapping into his reverse mortgage line plus our combined social security income. I'm unable to save any because of medical and personal expenses. Dad plans to put the house up for sale and we don't expect to yield anything after we pay off the mortgage and credit card debts. Dad will live rent free with my sister. I have no place to go. Due to health issues, I am unable to work. Ideally, I am trying to find a golden girls type living arrangement with only one or more person to share the home with, but I need help finding the resources to locate potential golden girls organizations. (HUD $ not an option.) Does anyone know Florida organizations like Jewish family services which actually uses United Way For any other groups that might be able to direct me to such a resource? (I have 2 emotional support Maltese, with Ltr. from my psych - And so prescribes my anxiety and depression prescriptions. I'm fine on meds. 1 dog 5 lb & de-barked, 2nd 15lb. Both lovable, housebroken. Everyone who loves dogs falls in love with these 2 cuties.

Maltesemom, are there any county senior centers in your area? If yes, see they they have a bulletin board where you can place an ad looking for a Golden Girl live-in situation.

HUD Is the best housing option. Why is it not a consideration? Do you expect someone to let you live free.
Silvernest.com is a roommate matching service. They do background and credit checks. You might beware that not all people love dogs and other pets.

Check your local paper,, ours has a lot of adds for rooms to rent and share the rest of the house.. sound like the situation you may be looking for. Most say no pets, but really once you go see them if they like you and the pets that can be negotiated.. maybe a pet damage deposit? I Know several people who went this route and the pets were accepted. Even a few smokers who were accepted once the owner realized they would only smoke outside.
