I was reading through some posts and when I read a post concerning how much more stressful the holidays can be for caregiver's, I thought maybe we could do a secret Santa. (If not allowed on site, please let me know Admin) If you want to participate then you purchase a gift of no more then $10 and once I have names of who all wants to participate I can email your secret Santa recipient's name and mailing address! Each person participating must mail one gift to someone else, and you will also receive one. This could be a fun and welcome way to distract ourselves from our daily routine from caregiving! Gifts aimed at someone taking extra time for thier self is good idea. For instance, bubble bath, slippers, books, etc. If you want to participate, you do need to feel comfortable sharing your email and mailing address. Please let me know if you want to help me cheer up other caregivers for the holidays!!🙆💞💟🎄🎁🎁🎁 If at least five others want to join then I will do the work of sending names and addresses to everyone!

Find Care & Housing
Dianne38, too bad we all don't live closer to each other.... we have many long time regulars on this forum who do not live in the United States. It makes life so very interesting knowing that the same caregiving issues of elders/spouses are world wide.

I would participate if I wasn't in my "hermit mode". After 7 years of helping my very elderly parents who have since passed, I just want to hide. I haven't recovered. Go shopping? Well, maybe if Hugh Grant was selling an autobiography I would head out the door to Barnes & Noble :)

Hope you have obtained a few names and it works out beautifully !!

I hope things improve and very sorry for your loss. They say time heals all wounds......Nonsense!!! But, the sooner you start injecting yourself back into society, the better you will feel. Maybe not at first.....But after some outings you will wonder why you stayed hidden so long. I think your parents would want to go on and experience life, and all that goes along with it. Best of luck, and Merry Christmas ⛄🎄⛄🎄🎄🎄🎅🎅🎄🎁

Diane,
What a generous and thoughtful idea.
What is often done is a pretend party, a pretend trip, so I am going to participate in a "fantasy" sort of gifting.

Can we exchange caregiving duties with other caregivers for one week?

Or, call it what you might....exchange our person-your Mom exchanged for my hubs. lol.

My gift to Igloo....a case of Procecco.

My gift to FF,
A huge crowd of carolers come to your door, you answer it, they sing, and you are cheered up.

Well I wish the idea would have come to me sooner. Even a Christmas card exchange would be fitting. I love to send and receive cards, and they have international mail so cards would be better idea to include everyone! My heart is in right place but I am aware that we have so much to do already that it would only cause others more stress, which is opposite of what I wanted. However, if anyone would like to receive a card, from yours truly then let me know! May not make it by Christmas but certainly by New Years!!:)
I wish you all a peaceful, joyful, Merry Christmas ⛄🎄⛄🎄
