Find Care & Housing
Are you asking for input on your decision to have her placed in a care facility? There are many factors to consider, such as her needs and the feasibility of you providing all the care in your home. It is a daunting job. With dementia, there will be progression as you have seen. I think it's wise to be realistic about your abilities and make the decision on what is best for mom. Unless, you have dealt with dementia first hand, as you have, it's difficult to describe to people.

I placed my loved on in Memory Care as I saw no other options. I support myself and run my own business. There were no funds for around the clock care for her in the home and no people to do it for free. Just a few years later and her vascular dementia has progressed significantly. She has done well in the Memory Care facility and seems content. I have no qualms with my decision, but it's up to the family member in charge. I'm sure you'll get multiple responses on this site.

Start looking at care homes, not for now, but for when the time comes. Better to be prepared for WHEN and not IF.
