Some days are not so bad.  I cannot afford to put him in a nursing home as our funds would soon be depleted and he would have to go on Medicaid and I would not have any money to live one. I guess the answer is just to live with this each day as it comes. netatom15

netatom15, so sorry you are going through this. Please note that if one spouse needs to be placed on Medicaid and placed into a nursing home, the other spouse will not be left with hardly anything to live on... Medicaid does take that into consideration.

As cdnreader had mentioned above, talk to a Social Worker who can explain how Medicaid works.

Dear Netatom,

I'm so sorry to hear how you are feeling. I know you are going through a lot. Please try to access some community resources. Try talking to a social worker and see what is available in terms of helping yourself and your husband. You are not alone. There is help. Try talking to a counselor or joining a support group. There is a lot of good information at this website as well.

Please call social services. Or maybe even check with your husbands physician. There has to be a solution, and I'm sure they will guide you to the best place for your husband. Lots of people can't afford a nursing home, but that shouldn't prevent them from getting care. Hugs and prayers
