I don't know much about my options. I live out of state and I have to go home. My mom refuses inpatient care, is refusing to follow pain med directives, and can't be left alone. What can I legally do? We are working with hospice but they said I can't force her in. They also said she can't be alone. What can I do?
I certainly hope that your attempts to move her into a facility will be successful.
You are extremely wise to realize that her care is too much for you to handle.
She absolutely needs to be placed in a facility. Best wishes to you and your family.
I have to agree. Maybe Adult Protection Services can help you.
Are you her health care proxy?
You can discontinue hospice service and take her to the Emergency Room. Ask to speak to a Social Worker there and tell them this is a "social admit" and that there is no one to care for her at home.
Does mom have the funds to pay for 24/7 in-home care?
I hope you are able to convince her to enter a hospice facility.
