My father is a native Spanish speaker. He has lived in the US for over 50 years, but over the course of his dementia he has fallen back on his native language.

We've called a few dozen agencies and no such luck for bilingual care. My favorite answer is: "We just post an ad on Indeed"-Translation yea, we got one, but you know we can hire them, give them over to you if they pass the background check they must be okay. Any advice or leads?

Find Care & Housing
Where I am in Australia, many ethnic migrant associations run their own aged care facilities, with staff who are language speakers. Many older people lose short term memory and fall back on a birth language – it doesn’t need dementia. I’m surprised you don’t have that option, especially for such a common language as Spanish. What a difficult problem!

This is true about Dementia, patients revert back to their original language. Mom had a Spanish speaking and Italian speaking resident in her NH. There was an aide who could translate for the Spanish speaking lady but no one who could translate for the poor Italian lady.

Check around some of the Daycares, Als and NHs. There maybe some aides willing to work some extra hours. If you talk to the hiring depts, they may have some applicants looking for jobs they weren't able to hire.

Day care centers have a janitor or someone not really qualified to assist patients.

I did respite care for 5 days with the belief there would be someone to care for him. One day I stopped by and found him sitting on the floor and just singing to himself.

A lot of communities form associations to celebrate their cultural heritage, I would try searching for a local mexican/hispanic/cuban/(other) group in your city and advertise what you are looking for there, you may even be lucky enough to find someone already employed by one of the agencies you have tried.
